About Perkvento
Perkvento started in Port Macquarie with a specific idea: theatrical makeup is a craft with real depth, and most people who love it never get a structured way to test or grow what they know. Our platform fills that gap with quizzes, interactive challenges, and feedback that actually tells you something useful.
Founded 2024 · Port Macquarie, NSW
Theatrical makeup sits at a strange intersection — it draws from fine art, chemistry, anatomy, and performance theory all at once. Someone might know how to blend a prosthetic edge perfectly but have no idea why certain pigments behave differently under stage lighting. Our quizzes are built to surface exactly those kinds of gaps, not just reward memorisation.
The content covers everything from period-accurate historical styles to modern special effects techniques. Each quiz module is tied to a specific skill domain, so you can focus on colour theory one session and character design the next without losing track of where you stand overall.
Feedback after each question explains the reasoning, not just the correct answer. That distinction matters — understanding why a particular technique works under a specific lighting rig is far more transferable than knowing a single right answer.
Every question on Perkvento was written or reviewed by someone who has actually worked in theatrical production. That means the scenarios are grounded — a question about corrective contouring references real stage distances and lighting temperatures, not abstract theory. The team includes makeup artists, a stage director, and an educator who spent years teaching at a regional performing arts school. Getting the content right took longer than building the platform, and that was deliberate.
We kept asking ourselves: would a working makeup artist actually find this useful? If the answer was no, the question got rewritten. Some modules went through four or five drafts before they felt honest.

Platform Design
Tomás came from a background in educational software and spent two years studying how quiz mechanics affect retention before joining. His approach keeps the gamified elements from feeling trivial — points and streaks serve the learning, not the other way around.
Education Adviser
Former head of makeup arts at a regional performing arts school. Yael reviews all new content for pedagogical structure — ensuring that each quiz module builds on the previous one rather than existing as isolated trivia. Her input shaped the difficulty tier system.
